Stansted Mountfitchet Link Magazine Community Interest Company - who are we?
From 1980 until 2009, The Link was published by Churches Together in Stansted (CTS). Each church nominated one or two representatives who formed a committee. The committee was responsible for the production and delivery of the magazine, which at that time was delivered to 850 homes on a subscription basis.
In November 2007 The Link became a free publication (incorporating the Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council’s stansted network magazine) that is now delivered to around 3400 houses and businesses in Stansted. The Link is funded through advertising and a contribution from the Parish Council.
In 2009, the old Link Committee was disbanded and The Link became Stansted Mountfitchet Link Magazine Community Interest Company (CIC), with directors appointed from the local community. Directors are independent and do not represent any other organisation except one director who represents the Parish Council. The editor, chairman, treasurer and company secretary are appointed by the directors. All the directors are volunteers and do not receive any remuneration. The company also has members, some of whom are directors. Members can attend meetings of directors, but cannot vote on major decisions and do not have the legal responsibilities of a director.
The directors are collectively responsible for the magazine, with small teams of directors and members managing specific aspects such as distribution, production and advertising. Teams may recruit other volunteers to assist. The Link contains advertisements, news from local organisations, colour photographs, useful telephone numbers, and other articles of local interest. The editorial team consider all contributions submitted for publication; articles which are considered interesting and informative are selected, with priority given to local organisations and dated events. Sometimes, due to pressure of space, some contributions may be shortened, deferred or not included, and contributors are notified prior to publication. The editor’s decision is final.

Stansted Mountfitchet Link Magazine CIC is registered with Companies House (Company no 7030218) where details of directors, financial accounts and annual report may be seen.
